Located at 1650–1750 masl in the Caranavi region, this farm provides an ideal environment for the geisha varietal, which produces vibrant red cherries. The farm operates in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem, sharing space with native trees, untouched forest, and banana groves.
Agricafe, our partner since 2016, is a family business led by the Rodriguez family. They began exporting coffee in 2001 with their Buena Vista wet mill and expanded into farming in 2012, responding to a national decline in coffee production. Today, they manage eight farms in Caranavi and five in Samaipata, employing up to 300 seasonal workers. Their dedication to sustainability earned them the SCA Sustainability Award.
The family is deeply involved in agronomic innovation, experimenting with grafting methods and testing over 50 coffee varieties. They’ve achieved outstanding results with java and geisha grafted onto robusta rootstocks, improving both yield and quality.
After harvest, coffee is processed at their wet mill, dried on raised beds, and finished in mechanical dryers simulating a day-night cycle. It is then bagged and sent to their dry mill in La Paz for final preparation. The coffee is packed in Ecotact and jute bags before being shipped via the Arica port in Chile.
